Patricia Flanders of Macon, Georgia, passed away in her sleep at the age of 77 on December 20, 2022. She joins her late husband James “Randy” Flanders, and is remembered by her two daughters Marnie Flanders and Kelly Palmer, and her grandson Kai Palmer.
Moving to Macon as a teenager from Savannah, Patty helped raise her six younger siblings and joined the workforce at a young age. She married Randy in 1966, and started her own family in Macon, where she lived a full and vibrant life.
She was naturally talented as an artist and also had a great facility with numbers. The first became a lifelong interest in art and in making art. She channeled her ability with numbers into jobs in finance and accounting, ultimately retiring from a long career as an accounting clerk at Kroger. She also developed an interest in coin collecting (perhaps combining her interests in art and money), and with permission to access the vast coinage that Kroger handled, was able to put together a sizable coin collection.
A great joy in her life was her grandson, Kai, who was born in 2011. She became very close with him, and always held a special place in her heart. She also leaves behind her loyal and protective dog Charlie, who has moved in with her cousin Bitty White, and now lives with Patty’s daughter Marnie and her son-in-law Creighton.
The memorial will be held at Hart’s mortuary at 765 Cherry Street in Macon on Wednesday, 12/28 at 2:00 PM, with a reception to follow.
