Palmer Lee Pierce

Macon- Palmer Lee Pierce, 84, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 14, 2010. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 11:00AM at the Mausoleum at Macon Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street, on Friday from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Pastor Lee Bennett will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to The Smile Train, 28th Floor, 41 Madison Avenue, New York, New York 10010. Palmer was born on November 24, 1925 to the late Chester Waldon Pierce and Minnie Lee King Pierce. He was predeceased by his brother, Waldon Pierce and his grandson, Stephen Pierce Fordham. Palmer retired from J. M. Huber Corporation after thirty-nine years of service. He served his country in the 84th Infantry Railsplitter Division of the United States Army and was a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was an active member of Cross Keys United Methodist Church since 1960. Palmer is survived by his loving wife, Frances Mae Church Pierce; daughter , Carol (Bob) Pitt of Evans, GA; son, Michael (Elise) Pierce of Farmington, GA; daughters, Laurie (Lin) Ballew of Macon and Patricia (Jeff) Fordham of Gray; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Lowell Pierce of Macon; sister, Sue P.
