Norbert Marcel James

Norbert Marcel James, 85, died Saturday April 13, 2013, at his residence. Memorial services will be held in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street, on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 3:00PM, with the Reverend Jimmy Towson officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 3:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon, GA 31210 or Macon Outreach c/o Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, 719 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201. Mr. James was born in Hanover, PA but lived most of his life in Macon. He attended local schools and was a member of the 1946 Lanier High School Class. After graduation from Lanier, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He attended Tulane University and graduated from Mercer University with a degree in Business Administration. His career started as a cost accountant with S&S Cafeterias and ended with retirement from Georgia Power Company. He was member of the Grace Bible Class and Forest Hills United Methodist Church and a former member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. He was the son of the late Lucien L. James and Vivian Forbes James. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lucien L. James, Jr. and his sister, Vera James White. He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty years, Carolyn Elder James; son, Mark Wesley James (Catherine) of Snellville, GA; Daughter, Cherie James Mock (Timmy) of Jones County; Son, Norbert M. Westall (Lisa) of Laguna Woods, CA; 6 grandchildren, Christopher Mark James, Matthew Wesley James, Allison Elizabeth James, Shannon Cherie Mock, Rebecca Michelle Gaskins and Samantha Nicole Westall; 2 great grandchildren; Sister, Maxine Gutting (Bob) of Panama City, FL and several nieces and nephews, and his lifelong hunting and fishing friend, Dr. Bud White.
