Nancy Noyes Van De Water

Macon- Nancy Noyes Van De Water, 69, of 416 Lamar Drive, died Friday, June 12, 2009. Services will be held Sunday, June 14, 2009 at 2:00PM at Vineville United Methodist Church with Dr. Marcus Tripp officiating. Burial will be private for family only in Riverside Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Van De Water was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and received her Bachelor of Arts in Zoology and Physiology from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. She received her Master of Science in Library Science from Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to moving to Macon, she was a Medical Library Intern at the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland, and a Reference Librarian for the Brain Information Service at the University of California School of Medicine, Biomedical Library in Los Angeles, California. She joined the Faculty of the Medical Library and Peyton T. Anderson Learning Resources Center of Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon in 1988, and served over the years as Collection Development Librarian, Head of Reference and Special Projects Librarian. She also assisted with collection development in the fields of history of public health, bioterrorism and infectious diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. She received certification as a Medical Librarian from the Medical Library Association, and was a member of Beta Phi Mu, International Library Science Honor Fraternity; the Southern Chapter of the Medical Library Association; and the Georgia Health Sciences Library Association. She was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church and Idle Hour Country Club. Mrs. Van De Water was an avid traveler and athlete. She enjoyed visiting family and friends within the United States and internationally. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed winter family skiing vacations and annual summer family trips to the beach and scuba diving. Mrs. Van De Water is survived by her husband of forty-three years, Dr. Joseph M. Van De Water of Macon; children, Joe Van De Water (Ann) of El Dorado Hills, California, Eric Van De Water (Eva) and Dr. Meg Van De Water (Larry DeAngelo), both of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Savannah and Charlotte Van De Water of El Dorado Hills, California, Davis Van De Water of Atlanta, Georgia and Adrianna De Angelo of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Jock Noyes of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Bill Noyes of Columbia, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to the Mercer Medical Library & LRC, 1550 College St., Macon, GA 31207-0001. Online register is located at www.hartsmort.com.
