Nancy Faye Tribble

December 11, 1954 — July 23, 2009

Macon- Nancy Faye Tribble, lovingly referred to by many names like Trib, Slick, and Sugar Fay, passed away in Macon, Georgia on July 23, 2009. She was born on December 11, 1954 in Atlanta and grew up in Social Circle, Georgia. She passed away at the age of 54 after a long and courageous eleven year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the daughter of Buddy and Faye Tribble and the granddaughter of the late Essie Preston Hooten and Mary Kate Malcolm Tribble. She is survived by her siblings Steven and Amy Tribble of Macon, Janet Tribble of Washington, D.C., Randy Tribble, Suzanne Tribble, and Robb and Pam Tribble of Decatur. She is remembered by her chosen family, the many friends that loved her from childhood, college, and her profession. Mary and Doreen, two very special people from her chosen family, have served as her caregivers for the past several months along with her care from Heartland Hospice and her doctors at Emory. Special thanks to Marie and Nettie for all of their help and support. She will be greatly missed. Nancy was very popular in school due mainly to her outstanding humor and love for life. She lived every day fully and without regret. She was active in high school as a basketball player and her friends knew her as "Slick". She continued in the spirit of her name after graduating and going to college. She attended Tift College in Forsyth, Georgia. It was here that she made many of her lifelong friends. These were the friendships that helped make her who she was. After graduating and becoming a teacher she impressed upon her own students how important friendships really were because of her own experiences. Her friends and family will remember how important these relationships were to her. Sugar Faye was a teacher and proud to be a part of this noble profession. Tribble spent most of her career in Clayton County and the last few years of her career in Henry County. She loved her students, and they loved her dearly. She received many commendations and accolades as a teacher including the 11 Alive Class Act Teacher. She was often referred to as the Teacher of the Millennium by her students and colleagues. Her sensitivity and thoughtfulness preceded her as a teacher and friend. She took the opportunity as a teacher to travel and continued to learn as much and as often as she could. Throughout her life, Trib loved entertaining her friends. She was known for her cooking and making plenty of food for everyone, including her students and her teammates. Her love for cooking afforded her the opportunity to appear on the Food Network. Her dream was to retire from teaching, live on the beach, and travel around the world eating at various restaurants and eateries that she had discovered through her travels and researched over the years. Above all, Nancy Faye Tribble was a lover of life. She shared her love for life with her students, friends, and family and especially her niece Drew Ann and her nephews, Joseph and Jared. Her love for these three children was impressive and they loved their Aunt Nancy. She wanted everyone who came in contact with her to know how much she loved life and how much they needed to love life too. In college, she was known as "Sir Anton Lover of Life" for Round Table. Nancy would want her niece and nephews and anyone else who knew her to know this the most…"Thou love of life is a contagious quality; one which we welcome here. See to it that the life thou livest is the life abundant in it's highest sphere." Memorial services will be held at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 781 Peachtree Street on Saturday, August 8th, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, 2990 S.
