Myrtle Sanders Page, 89, of Macon, Georgia, died peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Highland Hills Baptist Church, with the Reverends Dr. Jim Bruner, Cass DuCharme, and Ethan Brown officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the Great Room. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery.
Born in Newnan, Georgia, on May 20, 1936, Myrtle was the daughter of the late William Bennett Sanders Sr. and Fannie Kate Witcher Sanders. She earned her music education degree from Georgia State College for Women and went on to teach music in both the Bibb County and Richmond County school systems. She also shared her love of music through private piano lessons. Myrtle formerly served as the organist at Highland Hills Baptist Church and was an active member of the church, participating in the Rodney Browne Sunday School class, the choir, and the children’s music program. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Highlands, N.C., where she and John spent their summers. While in Highlands, they could frequently be found hiking, playing croquet, and clogging, and were members of the Cullasaja club.
Myrtle was also a member of Idle Hour Country Club and the Shirley Hills Garden Club. She enjoyed playing tennis, traveling with friends, and spending time in Highlands, North Carolina and Saint Simons Island. Her warmth, grace, and love of music enriched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by many.
Myrtle will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Dr. John Page of Macon; sons, John A. Page Jr. (Brenda) of St. Simons Island, Georgia, and Scott Page (Adrien) of Macon; daughter, Jennifer Leigh Murphy (Nick) of Newnan, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Christine Richards Page of Marrietta, Georgia; grandchildren: Hannah Page Stokes (McNeill), Lane Richards Page (Jeanette), Sawyer Bennett Page (Cecilia), Bennett Sanders Page, Mallory Page Vangsnes (Ryan), Johnny Page, Taylor Kate Luker (Carson), Cole Murphy, and Logan Murphy; nine great grandchildren and two on the way.
In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her son, Arnall Sanders Page; and siblings: W. B. Sanders Jr., Catherine Sanders Barron and Harold Sanders.
