Mrs. Mary Ann Mahoney

Mrs. Mary Ann Mahoney, 87, of Macon, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Macon. The family will greet friends following the service for a reception in the Social Hall of St. Joseph’s. Mrs. Mahoney was born in Wilkerson County and was married in 1958. She worked at Robins Air Force Base, Ellsworth Air Force Base, McDonald Douglas Manufacturing Company in England, and Shaw Air Force Base. She also worked as an administrative assistant for the State of Georgia for twenty-four years. Mrs. Mahoney was the first female president of the Mount de Sales Athletic Association and a former member of the Mount de Sales Board of Trustees.

Mrs. Mahoney was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Mahoney; parents, John “Augustus” and Opal McGhee; sister, Nora Nesmith; brother, “Coach” Joe McGhee; and granddaughter, Mary McKenna Dufford.

Mrs. Mahoney is survived by her son, David Mahoney (MaryBeth), of Macon; daughters, Diane Metz (Ted) and Donna Dufford (Keith), both of Macon; grandchildren, Brandon Mahoney (Logan), Blake Mahoney (Annalise), Matthew Mahoney (Mallory), Natalie Mahoney, all of Macon; Katherine Desilets (Jon), of Cumming, Stephanie Marie Metz, of Alpharetta, Ann McCall Dufford, of Macon, Joseph Dufford, of Bluffton, South Carolina, and Sean Dufford, of Macon; great-grandchildren Maverick and Hudson Mahoney and Charlotte, Noah, and Finley Desilets; and sister, Jean Stanley, of Macon.
