Mitchell "Mitch" Otis Hinson

Mitchell “Mitch” Otis Hinson, 69, of Macon, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Greenwood Baptist Church with the Reverends Kim Washburn and Ronnie Griffin officiating. Burial will be at Middle Georgia Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends on Monday, June 13, 2022, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Greenwood Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Covenant Academy in Memory of Mitchell "Papa" Hinson, 4652 Ayers Road, Macon, GA 31210.

Son of the late Otis Benjamin and Mattie Louise Moore Hinson, Mr. Hinson was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church and a former member and deacon of Northridge Baptist Church. He worked for Sears for twenty years, where he was affectionately called “Chicken”, for fifteen years at Raffield Tiremaster, and ten years at Goodwill Industries. Mitch loved spending time in his garden and working on his 1979 Ford truck. He was very active at Covenant Academy in the “GAP” program (Grandparents alongside Parents) where he was known as “Papa”.

Mr. Hinson was preceded in death by his brother, Michael James “Rabbit” Hinson.

Mr. Hinson is survived by his wife of 52 years, Belinda Hinson of Jones County; son, Mitch Hinson, Jr. (Amy) of Macon; two grandchildren, Abby and Huntley Hinson, both of Macon; siblings, Wylene McEleheney, Patsy Houston, Ronnie Hinson (Vickie), and Dianne Hinson, all of Jones County; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
