Miriam “Mimi” Harrison Brown passed away on Thursday, October 4th at her home surrounded by her loving family. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, October 9th, 2018 at Vineville United Methodist Church with Dr. Jimmy Asbell and the Reverend Grace Guyton officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives after the service in the Christian Life Center. Burial with her husband Roy will be held later at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia. Mimi was born April 10, 1942 in Macon, Georgia to the late John and Rose Harrison. After graduating from Miller High School for Girls in 1960, she entered Macon Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as valedictorian in 1963. As a nurse, Mimi worked both in the hospital setting and private practice. After earning her BSN in 1991, Mimi worked as a clinical supervisor for Mercer Health System and Central Georgia Technical College. Throughout her nursing career, with her dedicated and compassionate demeanor, Mimi inspired countless others, including several family members, to enter the profession.
After retiring in 2007, Mimi enjoyed traveling with her husband Roy to Hawaii, Holland, Paris, and many other wonderful places, as well as spending time with her children and grandchildren. An avid gardener, Mimi obtained Master Gardener status in 2009. She attended Vineville United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Alan Sanders Fellowship Class. She participated in many of the church ministries including the Backpack Program she lead for over 5 years.
Mimi’s children, loved ones and friends want to especially thank Tricia and Rachel for their care of Mimi immediately after her diagnosis. Mimi was so proud that her daughter-in-law and her granddaughter continued the family nursing tradition. Their skills as Registered Nurses made it possible for her to remain at home with family and friends. Their professionalism, unwavering love, and humor was heartwarming; Mimi’s life of “Nursing to All” lives on in their example. Mimi was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 18 years, Roy Brown. She is survived by sons Jon Spivey (Thes), Steve Spivey (Tricia), and David Spivey; daughter, Keri Spivey Feibelman (Nathan); step-son, Lawson Brown (Audrey); step-daughter, Heather Brown Scott (Cullen); sister-in-law, Sandy Brown Sudduth, sisters Margaret Wilson Webb (Ken), and Jan Harrison Toney (Joe); brother Parks Wilson (Julie); grandchildren Rachel Spivey, Carter Spivey, Luke Spivey, Peter Spivey, Fisher Feibelman, and Fiona Feibelman; four step-grandchildren; and loving nieces and nephews.
