Mildred Clara Baker Chapman

Mildred Clara Baker Chapman, 95, of Macon, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022.  A graveside service will be held Monday, May 2, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville, Georgia with the Reverend Scott Dickison officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Christ, 511 High Place Macon, GA 31201.

Daughter of the late Dewey and Iva Etheridge Baker, Mrs. Chapman was a graduate of Mercer University.  She taught history at Lanier High School and Miller High School.  Later she substituted at Rosa Taylor Elementary School and many other schools in middle Georgia.  She was a member of First Baptist Church for 70 years, where she is a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class. Her passions were her children, great grandchildren, gardening, fishing, and watching Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons.

Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ralph Chapman; son, Dan Chapman; grandson, Will Chapman; sister, Evelyn Mason; and brothers, Marcus Baker, Bud Baker, Carroll Baker, and Lloyd Baker.

Mrs. Chapman is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carol Chapman of Macon; son, Bill Chapman (Margi) of Saint Mary’s, Georgia; grandchildren, Daniel Chapman (Lauren) of Eatonton, Georgia, Laci Chapman of Savannah, Georgia, Samantha Roberts (Steven); great grandchildren, Olivia Chapman, Millie Chapman, Wyatt Chapman, and Hudson Chapman; and nephew Ricky Baker (Yolanda) of Tifton, Georgia.
