Michael Wolfe Poole

Michael Wolfe Poole, 73, of 109 Colaparchee Court, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2014. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 12 at Forest Hills United Methodist Church with Reverend Baxter Hurley and Reverend Teresa Edwards officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. in the narthex of the church. A family graveside service will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Forest Hills United Methodist Church, Pine Pointe Hospice of Central Georgia, or the Salvation Army. Dr. Poole was born on October 19, 1940 in Washington, Georgia to Boling Blakey Poole and Mildred Wolfe Poole and later graduated from Warner Robins High School. He completed his Bachelor's Degree in Education and Master's Degree in Education from Georgia Southern University. He earned a Master's Degree in Mathematics at Clemson University and was then awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics after attending Auburn University. Dr. Poole taught for 30 years at Macon State College where he retired as Professor Emeritus. He also taught at Mercer University, Wesleyan College, Central Georgia Technical College, and Stratford Academy. Dr. Poole served on the Board of the Salvation Army and was actively involved in multiple initiatives with Volunteer Macon. He was a member of the Burks Sunday School Class at Forest Hills United Methodist Church where he served in many aspects of church life. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed aerobics with his classes at Wesleyan. Dr. Poole was a wonderful father, grandfather, friend, and loving husband. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jackie Poole of Macon; son, Scott Poole (Lynda); grandchildren, Connor and Caroline of Peachtree City; daughter, Michelle Hall (Tom); grandchildren, Max and Anna Grace of Pelham, Alabama; brother, B.B.
