Michael Donald Blom, Sr.

Michael Donald Blom, Sr., 72, of Gray, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 3:00 PM, at Gray Methodist Church with Reverend Jason Dillard officiating. The family will visit friends for a time of visitation following the service. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Gray Methodist Church, 117 South Jefferson Street, Gray, Georgia 3103.

Michael was born on May 24, 1953, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the late Melvin Donald and Patricia Blom. He was a graduate of West Point Military Academy. Michael was a proud veteran of the United States Army where he served four years in Germany. He was a mechanical engineer for several decades before transitioning to teaching. He taught in several school districts in Alabama for ten years and then moved to Georgia and taught in the Putnam and Baldwin County schools for eleven years.

Michael was very athletic all through his life. He competed in gymnastics and tennis while at West Point. He also was a youth and high school soccer referee for over twenty years.

Michael was an avid reader and a lifetime learner. He could always be found with a book in his hand, always seeking and expanding his knowledge. He was a member of Gray Methodist Church, where he was strengthened in his faith. Michael loved his family and will be greatly missed.

Michael is survived by his wife of fifty years, Rosemary Blom; his children, Michael Blom Jr. (Cristy) of Opelika, Alabama, Tim Blom (Lindsey) of Fishers, Indiana, Jason Blom of Mt. Pulaski, Illinois, Lisa Robertson (Derrick) of Gray, Georgia, and Paul Blom of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; his seven grandchildren, Lauren Koger (Daniel), Makenzie Blom, Spencer Blom, Aubrey Blom, Grace Elgan, Jordan McIntyre, and Logan McIntyre; his siblings, Sue Waller (Brian) of Harris, Minnesota, Nancy Blom of Fridley, Minnesota, and David Blom (Jill) of Braham, Minnesota.
