Melvin Davis Lundy of Lancaster, PA and formerly Macon, GA died at the age of 87 on December 21, 2012, at Hospice of Lancaster Co. He had lived with his daughter since he left Macon four years ago. He was born 1925 in Tennille, GA, the eldest son of the late Melvin, Sr. and Annie Hitchcock Lundy. He was preceded in death by his beloved wives, Frances Weeks Lundy, Dorothy Blair Lundy, and Mildred Horne Lundy, and by brothers Larry, Olin, Randy, Charles, and Willie. He graduated from Lanier High, Macon, GA, attended college at Florida State University, Georgia Tech, and Georgia State University, studying electrical engineering and math., and in 1973 obtained his MBA. He was employed at Lockheed Martin Co. in Marietta, GA for 32 years, beginning his career there in1954 on the flight line and ending it as Deputy Director of Quality Assurance for the C5 Galaxy cargo plane contract. In Macon, GA Melvin was a member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and church Treasurer. He was active with Gideons International and was on the Board of Directors for The ARC, Association of Retarded Citizens. In Lancaster, PA he attended Wayside Presbyterian Church. Melvin is survived by his children Cheryl Rozea and her husband Peter of Lancaster, PA, his son Richard Lundy and his wife Mary, of Dawsonville, GA, and his step-children Wayne and Carolyn Cooper, Warner Robins, GA, who lovingly cared for him in Macon during a grave illness. Also surviving are his sister Patricia Lundy of Atlanta, GA, his six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating Melvin's life will be held in Macon, GA at Hart's Mortuary at The Cupola, January 12, 2013. Family will receive guests from 1:00 PM with the service at 2:00 PM.
