Melville E. “Duck” King Jr., 86, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on June 9, 2025. The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Hart’s at the Cupola in Macon. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, Kentucky.
Duck worked as an insurance adjuster for Travelers Insurance for many years. Beyond his professional life, his influence extended into his community through his committed involvement with the Masonic Lodge #32 in Shelbyville, Kentucky. As a Mason, he lived by the ideals of brotherhood, truth, and charity.
A classic car enthusiast, his knowledge and passion for classic automobiles were boundless, and he took joy in sharing this love with others. Duck was was known for never meeting a stranger, and if you asked how he was doing his reply was always “If I was any better, I couldn’t stand it.”
Duck is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Sue Johnson King of Macon; daughter, Melody King Ellis (Jeff) of Macon; grandchildren: Hunter Ellis of Fayetteville, Georgia, and Macy Ellis of Atlanta, Georgia; great granddaughter, Journey Ellis of Fayetteville, Georgia
