Maxine VanDeWalker, 93, passed away Friday, June 05, 2015. She was the daughter of Roy and Aletha Major. She was the widow of Edward C. VanDeWalker. She was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Kim Martines. Mrs. VanDeWalker was retired from Hurley Hospital after 33 years of service in the credit department. After retiring, she and her husband, Edward VanDeWalker, moved to Florida and played golf almost every day. Survivors include her son, Van VanDeWalker (Tracie) of Macon, Georgia; daughter, Carol McVicker (Marvin) of Flint, Michigan; son, Leo Haring (Diane) of Owosso, Michigan; six grandchildren, Kristi VanDeWalker of Nashville, Tennessee, Katie Engle (Derek) of Sumter, South Carolina, Amanda Reed (Philip) of Macon, Jan Carmona (Bob) of Flint, Michigan, Jeff Haring, and Connie Haring Summers; twelve great grandchildren, Marc Cordle, Brandon VanDeWalker, Nicholas Engle, Christopher Engle, Mason Reed, Amanda McVicker, Jessica Garrow, Danielle Backmeir, Jerry Martines, Christopher Summers, Lisa Summers, Brendon Haring, and Madison Haring; and four great great grandchildren, Matthew, Isaiah, Kimberlee, and Jozlynn. Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola has in charge of arrangements.
