Maxine Monroe, 80, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 11 at 2:00PM, in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street, with the Reverend Chuck Beaver officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Macon, Georgia 31201. Maxine was born November 21, 1933, in Ottumwa, Iowa to the late Ralph Warnock and Addie Forbes Warnock. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1951. Maxine married the love of her life, Donald Monroe, on August 1, 1953 and they moved to Macon, Georgia in November of 1975. After moving to Macon, she worked for Sears where she retired after 17 years. Maxine also work for Bibb County tag Office for Five years and retired from there in 2000. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Maxine loved to go on cruises, her and her husband, Don traveled the world together, and enjoyed the beach. She loved to read, especially romance novels, and doing cross word puzzles. Maxine was preceded in death by her two younger sisters Janet Krehviel and Shirley Casey. She was much loved by survivors, including her husband, Don Monroe, formerly of Ottumwa, Iowa; her sons, Donald D. Monroe, Jr. of Honolulu, Hawaii, Daniel J. Monroe (BJ) of Iowa City, Iowa, Michael D. Monroe (Theresa) of Macon, Georgia and Kelly B. Monroe (Diane) of Gray, Georgia; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and extended family and friends. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
