Master Sergeant Charles Gentry (Ret.) Marlin

January 14, 1931 — August 27, 2015

Charles G. Marlin, Sr. was born on January 14, 1931 in Franklin, Tennessee. He joined the US Air Force in 1948 and bravely served as an airborne radio operator during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. Charles retired after 22 years of service as a Master Sergeant before beginning a second career at Robins AFB as an avionics technician. Charles was a true Renaissance man, who has lived countries all over the world. His interests were wide and varied, from woodworking to amateur radio; gardening to stained glass. He was a devoted husband and father who was loyal to all those around him. Charles was humble to a fault, never bragging about his many accomplishments. He passed away on Thursday evening, August 27, 2015 at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife Charlotte, his children Charles, Jr., Jesse, and Jason, and his grandchildren Athena, Aaron, Felix, and Nova. Charles was very loved. He will be missed by all that had the honor of knowing him. Services are to be held on Monday, August 31, at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with visitation beginning at 1PM and ceremony beginning at 2PM. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association or Wounded Warriors. Register online at www.hartsmort.com. Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola has charge of arrangements.
