Mary Lou Young

Mary Lou Young, 88, of Macon passed away March 13, 2021. A graveside service will be held at Andersonville National Cemetery, Friday, March 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM. The family will greet friends March 18, 2021 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Hart’s at the Cupola.

Mary was born March 11, 1933 to the late John and Clara Herrington. She is survived by one son, Steven Durham Young of Macon; one daughter, Sandra Denise Young of Macon; two grandchildren, Christina Denise Rasul and Samuel Stephen Rasul, both of Macon; one great grandson, Landon Rasul Sherrer; one brother, Dr. Robert Herrington of Cochran, Georgia; and one first cousin, Norma Veal.  In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Durham Young and one brother, John Frank Herrington.

After her retirement, Mary enjoyed traveling. She liked tending to her garden, sewing, quilting, arts and crafts, and shopping. Mary taught herself to sew and would often make her own clothing as well as her children’s. She loved baking and cooking for her family and friends.

Hart’s Mortuary and Cremation Center, 765 Cherry Street, Macon, GA 31201, has charges of arrangements.
