Mary Jo Stiles

Mary Jo Stiles, 31, of Lizella, Georgia passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Hart’s Chapel at the Cupola.  The family will greet friends and family one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.

Mary Jo lived in Illinois before moving to Georgia with her family in 2020.  She was actively involved in Special Olympics where she earned gold medals in gymnastics, track, and bowling.  She attended Lewis and Clark Community College in Edwardsville, Illinois where she took many classes in life skills, fitness, and music.  Mary Jo had many friends through her participation in activities with the Colleen Nesbit Memorial Foundation and PTOEC, organizations that provide opportunities and activities for adults with disabilities.  She enjoyed attending summer camp at Camp Wartburg in Waterloo, Illinois.  She was humorous, confident and vivacious, and loved dancing, shopping, arts and crafts, and listening to music.

Mary Jo is survived by her parents, Chuck and Vickie Stiles; brother, Bradley Stiles (Jennifer), of Columbia, Maryland; sisters, Jayme Stiles (Andrew Bernstein), of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Kelly Stiles (Michael Graham), of Portland, Oregon; nieces, Maya Stiles, Phoenix Stiles, Flora Bernstein, Vivian Graham, and Sylvie Graham; paternal grandmother, Gloria Stiles, of Macon, Georgia; maternal grandmother, Mabel Howell, of Aberdeen, Mississippi; aunts and uncles, Joe Stiles (Jane), of Macon, Georgia, Richard Stiles (Allison), of Macon, Georgia, Janice Nordeck (Mark), of Winder, Georgia, Ken Stiles, of Macon, Georgia, Stacey Allison (Craig), of Evans City, Pennsylvania, Steve Smith, of Aberdeen, Mississippi, and Edward Smith (Amy), of Aberdeen, Mississippi; and ten cousins.

The family would like to thank Mary Jo’s care providers, Lakesha Johnson and Julie Hall of Macon, Georgia and her care providers in Illinois for their loving kindness and extraordinary care.
