Mary Odessa Smallwood Westgate passed away on September 13, 2017. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, Jones County Chapel, Gray, GA 31032. The Reverend Steve Johnson will be officiating the service. A burial will follow at New Haven Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by Loretta Faulk. A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at Hart's Mortuary, Jones County chapel. The family may be reached at the home of Angela and David Sorrow, 158 Patton Road, Gray, GA 31032. The family would like for anyone who had one of Mary's handmade afghans to please bring it as a tribute to her. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Leslie Raymond Westgate and her parents, Willard Lee and Mary Lizzie Smallwood, brother, Jesse Smallwood, and sisters, Willie Lee Wood and Patricia Clance. She was a member of New Beginnings Congregational Holiness Church, and was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation. She loved to crochet, sing southern gospel music and travel. Mary is survived by her daughters, Angela Sorrow (David) of Gray, GA, Valerie Hall (Jeff) of Jones County and Penelope Bennett (Robbie) of Gray, GA; grandchildren, David (Amber), Helen and Hannah Sorrow, Matthew and Colin Hall, Leslie, Maryanne and Clay Bennett; great grandchildren, Andrew, Gracie, Brayden and Greyson; siblings, Evelyn Eddy, Calvin Smallwood, Allen Smallwood, Charles Smallwood (Elaine), Deborah Cobb (Phillip); and many nieces and nephews.
