Mary Knight Sheridan passed away Friday, February 14 th . Visitation will take place at Hart’s at the Cupola from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, Tuesday, February 18, 2020. Funeral services will be conducted at Christ Church Wednesday, February 19 th at 2:00PM with the Reverend Cynthia Knapp officiating.
Mrs. Sheridan, a native of Macon, Georgia was the daughter of the late Otis Dewey Knight and Sara Goolsby Knight. She attended Miller High School and University of Alabama. After graduating from the University of Alabama Mrs. Sheridan married Dr. Charles C. Benton with the couple residing in Macon. She was widowed on the death of Dr. Benton in 1959 and later married John Valentino Sheridan, Jr.
Mrs. Sheridan, a talented interior designer established Valentino’s Antiques and Interior Design along with her partner Mrs. Jean Hogan. She was a successful interior designer until her retirement in 2009. Along with her husband, Val, Mrs. Sheridan was very active in community affairs and projects. She was a long-time member of Christ Church in Macon.
Mrs. Sheridan was predeceased by her daughter Katherine Ann Benton Morehead and her husband John Valentino Sheridan, Jr.
Mrs. Sheridan is survived by her children, Charles C. Benton III (Claudia) of Berkeley, California, Carden Benton Rice (Marvin) of Cumming, Georgia, and John Valentino Sheridan III (Alice) of Macon; grandchildren, Carling Dinkler (Ayame) of New Orleans, Louisiana, Charles Benton (Becca) of Berkeley, Thomas Benton of Berkeley, Sara Rice Travis (Parker) of Jacksonville, Florida, Alexander Tucker of Boulder, Colorado, Val Sheridan of Macon , and Loy Sheridan of Macon; and three great grandchildren, Luke Benton, Ansley Dinkler, and Maya Benton.
Hart’s Mortuary and Cremation Center at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210 has charge of arrangements.
