Mary Ruth Seward

Mary Ruth Seward, 93, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with the Reverend Joe McDaniel officiating. Burial will be private in Flovilla City Cemetery. Family will greet friends on Thursday, September 10, 2015 between 5:00-7:00PM at the Cupola. Mrs. Seward was the widow of James Preston Seward, Sr. Raised in Butts County, she graduated from Jackson High School where she loved playing basketball with her sisters, Marian and Jane. Mrs. Seward was employed at Chi-Ches-ters for 70 years, retiring on her 87th birthday. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and Women of the Moose. She was predeceased by her grandson, Timothy Brogdon. Survivors include her sons, Jim Seward (Judy) of Valdosta, Georgia, and Tommy Seward (Ann) of Tifton, Georgia; daughters, Dawn Seward Murphey (Craig) of Macon, and Deanna Seward Sanders (Jay) of Macon; nine grandchildren, Preston Seward of Dallas, Texas, Tracy Sweet (John) of Pierceton, Indiana, Kim Simmons (Philip) of Nashville, Georgia, Molly Huff (Lee) of Savannah, Tom Seward of Bonaire, Stephen Murphey of Atlanta, Ryan Murphey of Macon, Blake Sanders of Macon, and Jarrett Sanders of Macon; six great grandchildren, Kellie Philpot (Dustin), Kal Simmons, Becky Fields, Chase Seward, Annalee Huff, and Elizabeth Huff; many nieces and nephews.
