Mary "Polly" Pauline Deyoung

September 1, 1937 — March 30, 2024

Milton, Georgia

Mrs. Mary “Polly” Pauline DeYoung, 86, of Milton, Georgia, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024.  Private graveside services and interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Born in Macon, Georgia, Polly moved to Florida at an early age.  She was an intelligent, success-driven woman and shortly after earning a Master’s Degree in Education, she went abroad to begin teaching high school.  She was well-respected and tenured in her profession.  Over the course of her entire career, Polly worked teaching the children of military officers on U.S. military base high schools across Europe, including in Paris, Berlin, and London.  Her family proudly remembers her as a “Type-A” personality who loved to travel and was not ever one to sit still.

Polly is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Pauline Croom; and her husband, Norb DeYoung.  She is survived by her older sister, Zoe Smith of Milton; and her nephews, Mark Alan Smith (Marianna) of Oregon, Jeffery Stephen Smith (Ann Marie) of Florida, and Gregory James Smith (Fran) of Nevada.
