Mary Grace Patterson Murphey passed away Friday, October 18, 2013, surrounded by her family. The widow of Roger Clifton Murphey Sr., Mrs. Murphey was the last surviving sibling of brothers Harlan Patterson, Ray Patterson, and Wilbur Patterson and sisters Barbara Patterson and Betty Jean Patterson Bright. She is survived by a daughter, Rosalyn Murphey Adcox (John) of Atlanta, and two sons, Roger Clifton Murphey Jr. (Toni) of Macon and Ray Patterson Murphey (Connie) of Statesboro, one granddaughter, six grandsons, two great grandchildren, four nieces, and four nephews. A lifelong resident of Middle Georgia, Mary Grace was active in the Byron United Methodist Church until she moved to Macon in 1997 and moved her membership to Forest Hill United Methodist where she loved being a member of the Leonard Grace Sunday School class. While living in Byron, Mrs. Murphey was an active member of the Byron Garden Club, the Byron Historical and Preservation Society, and numerous other civic organizations. A civil servant, Mrs. Murphey worked at Robins AFB until her retirement Mrs. Murphey possessed all the graciousness and charm of the quintessential Southern belle and was beloved by all who knew her. Her lifelong passion was her family, her friends, and her church. She is sorely missed by those who knew her as "Mama," "Grandmamma," "Gran-Omah," "Aunt Grace," and "sweet Miss Mary Grace." Visitation is at 10:00 Tuesday morning at Forest Hills United Methodist Church, followed by an 11:00 service. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
