Mary Ann Nunn Domingos

Mary Ann Nunn Domingos, 94, of Macon, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022.  Private funeral services will be held at Vineville United Methodist Church with Dr. Jimmy Asbell and the Reverend Grace Guyton officiating.  A private burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery.  The family will have a celebration of life Monday, March 28, 2022, 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Grande Ballroom at Carlyle Place. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Vineville United Methodist Church, 2045 Vineville Ave, Macon, GA 31204, or Wesleyan College, 4760 Forsyth Rd, Macon, GA 31210.

Daughter of the late Dr. John Allison and Lena Shell Nunn, Mary was born in San Antonio, Texas, August 3, 1927.  She would have celebrated her 95th birthday on August 3rd this year. She was a kind, cheerful, and giving person who devoted herself to serving God, her family, and her community. Mary graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Macon to attend Wesleyan Conservatory for two years. She graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1949. Mary later earned a Master of Arts degree from Mercer University and a Specialist in Education from the University of Georgia. She was a reading specialist at Alexander II and Winship Elementary Schools in Macon. Mary was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church serving on the Administrative Board, as chairman of the worship committee, as co-chairman of the archives and history committee, and as both member and president of the Mack Anthony Sunday school class. She served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Family Service Guild, the Central Georgia Speech and Hearing Center, and the Macon Ballet Guild. She was a member of the Junior League of Macon, the Macon Town committee of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Georgia, the Town and Country Garden Club, and the Morning Music Club. She was a member and served as president of the History Club of Macon. At Carlyle Place, her residence, Mary served as chairman of the programming committee and as a member of the resident advisory and the development committees.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Richard B. Domingos; brother, Dr. John R. Nunn; and a grandson, Robert Cole Holman.

Mary is survived by her children, Richard "Dick" Burden Domingos, Jr. (Jeanie), Alice Ann Domingos Holmon (Cole), and Mary Octavia “Tava" Domingos Jones (Bruce); grandchildren, Tiffany Domingos Brennaman (Chris), Mary Anna Holman Pastorek (Steve), Claire Jones Lam (Chris), and Spencer Burden Jones (Maggie); and 8 great grandchildren. Please join us in honoring her for being an exceptional Proverbs 31 “woman of noble character … worth more than rubies … her children arise and call her blessed.”
