Mary Lee Layson

Mary Lee Layson, 91, of Gray, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, January 20, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Hart's Mortuary, Jones County Chapel with the Reverend Robby Kerr officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery in Jasper County. The family will greet friends Tuesday from 5PM to 7PM at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted or contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity. Mrs. Layson was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Gray. She loved sewing, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. A special thanks goes out to her caregiver, Susan Clark, and the staff of Heartland Hospice. She is predeceased by her husband, Raymond Marcus Layson; her parents, Joe Walter Wagner and Cinnie Lucinda Lynch Wagner; and three sisters and five brothers. Mrs. Layson is survived by her son, Clifford Layson (Patricia) of Haddock; two daughters, Brenda Greenway (Horace) of Gray, and Dot Layson of Macon; six grandchildren, Jeff Layson (Elaine), Ricky Layson (Kim), Marie Rogers (Scott), Bryan Greenway, Jenifer Pickens (Mike), and Lauren Van Sice (Ian); five great grandchildren, Christopher Pickens, Lucy and Will Layson, and Joseph and Brooklyn Rogers; and four sisters, Fannie Hobbs, Sara Marsh, Ann Shirley, and Cinnie Evans.
