Mary "Ma" Laverne Adams

May 15, 1926 — July 12, 2024

Gray

Mary Laverne “Ma” Adams, 98, of Gray, passed away July 12, 2024 at her home on Greene Settlement Road, her little piece of heaven on earth. Funeral services will be at Hart’s Mortuary Jones County Chapel, Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 11:00AM with the Reverend Trent Williams officiating.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be private at Cedar Ridge Cemetery.

Though so grateful for the 98 years God shared her, she will be greatly missed by her children, Melidy Lowe (Raymond) and Kela Lowe (John); grandchildren, Adam Lowe (Chandra), Amanda Mercer (Phillip), and Kassidy Lowe; great-grandchildren, Sam Lowe (Allie), Carly Mercer, Ashley Roberson (Roy), Keith DuPree, Dylan DuPree (Helen), and Nickolas DuPree; and great-great-grandchildren, Maddox Roberson and Livia Roberson. She is survived by two siblings, Martha Landin and Maudine Faxon. Ma was predeceased by John Sam Adams, her husband of over 60 years; four sisters; and two brothers.

Ma will be remembered as a devoted homemaker. She had a love for cleaning, cooking, and storytelling. She was a master of Spades, Scrabble, and Aggravation. She had unconditional love for all her family: numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Her memory will forever be kept alive by her children and grandchildren. The children would like to thank all the people who have loved, supported, and embraced their mother over the years. Their kindness will be remembered always.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you spread joy and live by the first Bible verse Ma taught to Kassidy and Carly, "Be ye kind to one another" (Ephesians 4:32), and remember "I will be the same until your old age, and I will bear you up when you turn gray. I have made you, and I will carry you; I will bear and rescue you." (Isa. 46:4)
