Mary Evelyn Hamlin of John Wesley Villas died Friday, January 3, 2014. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 4:00PM at Riverside United Methodist Church with the Reverend Steve Waldorf officiating. The family will greet friends at the church following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210 or to the donor's favorite charity. Mrs. Hamlin, daughter of the late James Everett Atkinson and the late Evelyn Wright Chesnut, was predeceased by her husband, J. Ed Hamlin and by her sister, Barbara "Bo" Walden. She was a charter member of Riverside United Methodist Church and was founder of Riverside Kindergarten. Mrs. Hamlin was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a graduate of Mercer University. She taught school at both Stratford Academy and Jonesco Academy before retiring from the Bibb County school system as an Assistant Principal. Mrs. Hamlin is survived by her children, Evelyn Adams (Joe) of Macon, Cherie Bland (Ronnie) of Macon and Ed Hamlin (Missy) of Atlanta; grandchildren, Aimee Dasher (Will), Keith Childs (Laura), Maegan Hamlin and Paige Hamlin; four great-grandchildren, William Dasher, Luke Dasher; Logan Childs and Kaitlyn Childs; niece and nephews, Connie Roberts and Johnny, Ed and Steve Short.
