Marty Lee Hammock, 77, passed away Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 4, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. The family will greet friends from 12:00pm until service time on Monday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Tattnall Square Academy, 111 Trojan Trail, Macon, GA, 31210 or American Diabetes Association, 225 Peachtree St. NE, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30303. Mr. Hammock was born in Johnson County to the late Cleo Rembert Hammock and Nellie Kitchens Hammock. He moved to Macon at age 10 and after graduating from Lanier High School in 1954, he went to work for his father- in- law at Greenway Brothers Body Shop. He started, owned and operated Hammock Paint and Body Shop for 47 years and was member of the Independent Body Shop Owners Association. In 1972 the Hammocks moved to Jones County, built and established Holly Hill Farm. He served on the board of Jonesco Academy in Gray, GA, was a member of Swift Creek Methodist Church and enjoyed visiting Ingleside Baptist Church. Mr. Hammock was an avid sports fan, fisher man and a proud member of Tattnall Square Golden Trojans and Tennessee Walking Horse Association. His Memory will forever be cherished by his wife of 56 years, Joann Greenway Hammock; daughters, LeAnn Faulkner and Penny Talton; son-in-law, Rick Talton; the light of his life were his four grandsons, Tyler Faulkner, Trent Faulkner, Griffin Cleveland and Gray Talton. Marty was a mentor and friend to all he met and his patience, kindness and generosity will be greatly missed. A special thanks to his friends among the closest being, Tim Hancock, Mike Ethridge and Bonnie Simmons for 29 years of Friendship to the entire Hammock family. Register online at www.hartsmort.com.
