Martha S. Mcmahon Stewart

Martha S. McMahon Stewart passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024.  Martha was born in Macon, Georgia. She was the daughter of John Rowe Stine and Mary Horan Stine.

She was predeceased in death by her first husband, C.W. McMahon; second husband, James E. Stewart; son, Philip McMahon; and grandson, James H. Hitchcock.

Martha graduated from Jones County High School in 1947, and The Macon Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. Martha was employed by The Macon Hospital and Medical Center of Central Georgia, as a registered nurse for 39 years until retirement.  She enjoyed her work with the indigent patients in the hospital clinic. She also enjoyed being outdoors working with flowers and rambling in the woods.  She was a former member of Cross Keys Lions, the Medical Center Alumni, and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan M. Lubbers (David), of Grovetown, Georgia, and Sandra M. Hunt (Chris), of Canton, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Sandra B. McMahon, of Macon, Georgia; grandchildren, Charles and Brian Lubbers, Nicholas McMahon, Sara M. Logue (Brent), Dalton and Trevor Hunt; great-grandchildren, Kimberly Lubbers, Philip Logue, and Sam Logue; three nephews, John Stine, Richard Wehlitz, and John Wehlitz (Beth); and one niece, Beth Hovey (Bob); and one great niece, Sieren Hovey; stepchildren, Lynn Tucker (Ricky) of Macon, and Jimmy Stewart (Caroline) of Bishop, Georgia, and family.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Friday, June 28, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father John Johnson officiating.  Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park.  The rosary will be at 5:30pm, Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Hart’s, Cherry Street Chapel, with visitation beginning at 6:00pm.  Flowers will be accepted or donations to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 830 Poplar Street, Macon, Georgia 31201; or the Lion’s Camp for the Blind, 5626 Laura Walker Road, Waycross, Georgia 31503.
