Martha Ellen McEwen, age 95, of Macon, Georgia passed away the 19th of July 2017. Family will receive friends in the Grande Ballroom at Carlyle Place, 5300 Zebulon Road, Macon, Georgia from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm, Saturday, July 29, 2017 for a celebration of the life of Martha. Burial is scheduled for a future date at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, where her remains will be interred with those of her husband, a WWII veteran. Memorial donations may be mailed to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607, Mrs. McEwen's favorite charity. Mrs. McEwen was born in Toledo, Ohio, the fifth of nine children, October 28, 1921. She and her late husband, Richard W. McEwen, spent most of their lives in Miami, Florida. Their later retirement years were spent at Reynolds Plantation and Carlyle Place in Macon. Martha worked for DuPont Paint during WWII and then spent the remainder of her life as a supportive and loving wife to her husband of sixty-six years, a devoted mother to her children and a community volunteer wherever they lived. Mrs. McEwen is survived by son, Michael McEwen, of Jacksonville, Texas; daughter, Joellen Artz (John), of Rutledge, Georgia; grandsons, John McEwen (Meredith), of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Matthew Neithercut (Laura), of Sugar Hill, Georgia, Chad Artz (Sharla), of Alexandria, Virginia, Stephen Artz (Catherine), of Atlanta; sister, Anne Bollinger (Arthur), of Toledo, Ohio; and five great-grandchildren.
