Macon- Marshall F. Griffin, 90, a native of Macon, passed away Friday, November 5, 2010 at Pine Pointe Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Monday, November 8, 2010 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Dr. David Hunter and the Reverend Gary Walker officiating. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park. Visitation: Sunday from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 6611 Zebulon Road, Macon, GA 31220 or Hospice of Central Georgia, P.O. Box 6533, Macon, GA 31208.
Mr. Griffin was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served as an usher and was a member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class and the New Adventures Seniors Group. He was a member of the Exchange Club West and the Woodmen of the World, Lodge #10. Mr. Griffin was a 50 year member of the Rutland Masonic Lodge. He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army serving in World War II where he was a prisoner of war for nine months. Mr. Griffin was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy C. Griffin.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his two daughters, Barbara G. Walker (Gary) of Columbus, MS, and Marsha A. Griffin of Macon; three grandchildren, Terri Walker Ballman (Mark) of Effingham, IL, Stephen Randall Walker of Birmingham, AL, and Joseph Glenn Walker (Jennifer) of Macon; five great grandchildren, Kendall, Megan and Angela Ballman, and Emily and Joseph Walker.
