Markus Asbell passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017. A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church. The family will greet friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Born in Macon, Markus was a graduate of Monroe Academy where he played on the championship football team. He worked for Griffin Industries /Dar Pro for many years. He was a member of Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church and a former worshipful master of Masonic Lodge #5. He was predeceased by his parents, Olin and Ethel Bennett Asbell, his siblings, Wayne Asbell, Bene Asbell and Lee Asbell, and his father-in-law, Silas J. Simmons. Markus is survived by his wife of 40 years, Adicia "Dee" Asbell, of Macon; two children: Abigail "Abi" Wright (David) of Macon and Molly Asbell (Kaiser Gerhardt) of Macon; sister: Carla Dennis (Peter) of Macon; sister-in-law: Sandra Yates (Terry) of Byron; brother-in-law: Si Simmons (Cindi) of Webster, North Carolina; mother-in-law: Jean Simmons of Webster, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
