Haddock

Mark Anthony Bonner, Sr., age 59, passed away on March 9, 2026. A beloved son, brother, husband, father, Big Daddy, and Pawpaw, Mark was known for his generous heart, strong spirit, and deep love for his family. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel, with a time for visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Cedar Ridge Cemetery on Greene Settlement Road.

Born on December 12, 1966, in Macon, Mark was the son of the late Sue and Sam Bonner. He graduated from Jones County High School in 1984. Mark was an entrepreneur who proudly operated his own masonry business for over 30 years. Later in life he worked delivering newspapers, spent time on the road as a courier, and also worked with the United States Postal Service.

Mark loved providing for and caring for his family. He was known for cooking the best breakfasts and took pride in making sure everyone around his table was well fed.

A true Georgia sports fan, Mark loved cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and Atlanta Falcons. He enjoyed time at the beach, playing cornhole, and savoring good country cooking.

In recent years Mark had found great joy in his relationship with Christ. He was a faithful viewer of Billy Graham and developed a deep love for worship music. The last 25 years of his life were marked by faithful sobriety, where he found strength and purpose in the Lord and in his family.

Mark had the heart of a father who wanted nothing more than to help fulfill his children’s biggest dreams—from countless family vacations to spontaneous shopping trips and moments of celebration. Though he was a simple man, he was deeply spirited and loved his people fiercely.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sue and Sam Bonner, and his brother, Rick Bonner.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Bonner. Though married for three years, they shared 27 years of life together. He is also survived by his five children: Brooke Maurer (Cory), Mark Bonner Jr. (Amy), Nicole Vance (Richard), Tracey Cook (Duck), and Junior Calvert (Morgan).

He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Allie, Max, Eli, Mason, Ansley, McKinley, Beau, Ethan, and Walker, who lovingly knew him as Pawpaw. He is also survived by his sister, Terri Skinner and other nieces and nephews.

Mark’s life was marked by love, redemption, and devotion to family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
