Majorie Hawkins Thomas went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 after a brief illness. A celebration of her life will be Sunday, July 31, 2016 at 3:00PM in the Sanctuary of Elam Baptist Church, Gray, GA. The Reverend Gary Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow in Middle GA Memorial Gardens on Joycliff Road, Macon, GA. Visitation with family will be prior to the services at Elam Baptist Church between 1:00PM and 3:00PM. Flowers are accepted or contributions to Elam Church may be made in her name. Mrs. Thomas was born on August 11, 1925 in Jones County, GA. She was a lifelong attendee of Elam Baptist and a member for 77 years. She was a loving mother, a lady of faith and dignity. She never wanted to be in the spotlight herself and was always there to help others. Her memory will forever be treasured by her family. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Thomas, Sr. She is survived by three children, John Ray (Tammy) Thomas, Jr., Sue (Jerry) Elder and Joyce (James) Martin; special niece/daughter, Debra Maynard; nine grandchildren, John Thomas, III, Tim (Angel) Thomas, Will (Ashley) Mizell, III, Craig (Mandi) Elder, Staci (Michael) Nelson, LeAnn (Kris) Bridges, Shelly (Jason) Parker, Emily (Casey) Jacobs, Marge (David) Pevey; Twenty great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and brother, Preston (June) Hawkins.
