Sun sets on beloved family man, pilot, WWII Flight Instructor, actor, and all time War Eagle. Marion Schlosburg of Macon passed away, at the age of 87, on October 12, surrounded by his loving family. His loving wife of 58 years, Sallie Pragg Schlosburg, made him smile just as much in his final days, as one could imagine she did the day they met. His legacy is the good works of his 3 daughters, Carla, Ann, and Gail, and their beautiful families, who are as much a reflection of his kindness and grace as he could have ever hoped for. The pride in his eyes will always shine on in theirs. His 2 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, and great granddaughter all loved their Pa Pa, and he couldn't have loved them more if he had tried. Born in Camden, South Carolina, Marion had a zest for life that belied his age, and he always stretched his intellectual and artistic boundaries, to squeeze every drop out of life, and bring joy to others. He was an avid bridge player, actor, pilot, Auburn fan and gardener. His years as a World War II civilian flight instructor, where he and his fellow instructors contributed mightily to the defense of our country training qualified pilots when they were desperately needed for the war, were among his proudest, personally. One of his last wishes was to see these men recognized for their sacrifice and contribution to our country's safety. Flight was Marion's greatest thrill. He said he never felt closer to God, then he did while flying. After the war, Marion spent most of his career in hotel and restaurant management with his Camden family. He also had a successful career in the furniture business. Pa Pa was a man of God, and a member of Macon's Temple Beth Israel. He taught all his children and their families to love and respect God, and Jewish heritage. Anyone who longs to see the positive power of God and faith need look no further than this man, and the shining manner in which he lived. A new sun has risen, and it's a beautiful day for flying. Memorial services will be held at Temple Beth Israel, 892 Cherry Street, Macon, GA 31201, this Friday, October 14th, at 2pm. Please make contributions to the Temple in his name to that address. Online registration is located at www.hartsmort.com. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory at the Cupola has charge of arrangements.
