Jefferson Marion Moore of Gray, Georgia passed away at his home Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Born on June 22, 1934, he was a graduate of the 1955 Class of Lanier High School. He served in the Army National Guard and was awarded National Rifle Champion for a number of years. After retiring from AT&T, he worked for Bowden Golf Course, Macon Wire and served on the Appeals Board of Jones County Planning and Zoning. Marion was an avid golfer for many years. He loved the outdoors, walking his trails and creeks daily with his beloved pets in tow. He had and demanded respect for nature and his property was a beautiful sanctuary to plants, animals and birds of every species. He worked endlessly and was known far and wide for his "Moore Manor Hummingbird Resort". He was an advocate for animals and was adored by his many pets. Marion was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson M. and Eugenia Wheeler Moore; brother and sister-in-law, Murray and Loretta Bartlett. Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of 35 years, Diane Carter Moore; son, Sam Rivers (Angie) of Silverthorne, Colorado; grandson, Colton Rivers; devoted, longtime friends, George and Debbie Baxter; several sisters-in-law and brother-in-law; nieces and nephews; and his beloved pet and sidekick, Checkers. A Celebration of Life for Mr. Moore will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the residence, 475 McKay Road, Gray, Georgia 31032. Please visit www.hartsmort.com to express condolences.
