Marie Jones Sears, 91, of Macon, died Saturday, January 21, 2012. Graveside services will be held at 3:00PM Monday, January 23, 2012 at Macon Memorial Park with the Reverend David L. Carter and Gary Dunagan officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery. A native of Lumber City, Georgia, Mrs. Sears was a graduate of Georgia College and Mercer University. She was a retired elementary school teacher in Bibb County. Mrs. Sears was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Story League. She was a member and the pianist for Glenwood Hills United Methodist Church. Mrs. Sears was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Sears; son, Larry Sears; three sisters, Julia Ruby Jones Holloway, Mary Louise Jones Oliver and Naomi Jones Young; and three brothers, Benjamin Franklin Jones, Ernest Woodrow Jones and Walker Lee Jones. Mrs. Sears is survived by her niece, Kay Moore-Davis of Warner Robins; two nephews, Richard Young (Vickie) of Homerville, Georgia and Lynn Smith (Nancy) of Milledgeville; and several great nieces and great nephews.
