Marie Sanders

Lizella-Marie Eula Hartley Sanders, 98, died Friday, October 16, 2009, in the Cherry Blossom Health Care Center where she lived for over ten years. She made many friends and touched numerous lives with her spirit of love, joy and humor and rejoiced in living each day. Graveside services will be held at Lizella Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00PM on Thursday, October 22, 2009. Reverend Shannon Back will officiate. Mrs. Sanders was born in Crawford County, Georgia and lived in Lizella for most of her life. She was the widow of James R. Sanders (youngest brother of Sanders Brothers Grocery Store). Her life was spent being a homemaker, working in her yard growing flowers, care of her lawn and being an active member of Lizella Baptist Church. Fishing was her favorite pastime. Survivors include her son, James R. Sanders, Jr. and his wife, Deen Day Sanders of Duluth, GA; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The four grandchildren are James E. Sanders (Terry) of Greenville, SC, Sally Jones (Mike) of Daphne, AL, Jeanie Gilmer (Fred) and Linda O'Brien (Frank) of Greenville, SC. The great-grandchildren are Suzanne and Daniel Sanders, Kate and Carter Jones, Logan and Keyes Gilmer, and Morgan and Clark O'Brien. The family visitation will be in the Lizella Baptist Sanctuary from 1:00-2:00PM on Thursday, October 22, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lizella Baptist Church. Hart's Mortuary and Crematory at the Cupola has charge of arrangements.
