Marie Davis Pinkerton

Marie Davis Pinkerton died January 10, 2009 at the Carriage House of Taylors, Taylors, SC. She was 102 years old. Born December 4, 1906 in Toomsboro, GA, she was the daughter of the late John Braswell and Nancy Morris Davis. Mrs. Pinkerton, along with her husband, was the owner and operator of Pinkerton's Pharmacy in Macon, GA for many years. She was a member of the Federated Garden Club of Macon and the Edith Coleman Sunday School Class at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. Until her death, she was the oldest member of her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Haley Pinkerton, Sr.; a son, Roy Haley Pinkerton, Jr.; four sisters, Gussie Adams of Americus, GA, Martha Twilley, Johnnie Mills, and Eva Putnam, all of Macon, GA; one brother, George Milton Davis, of Travelers Rest. Survivors: granddaughter, Paula Baker, two great-grandsons, Mathew and Mark Baker of Allentown, GA; nieces, Jean Carswell of Americus, GA; Lea Ricker and Ann Albert of Taylors; Peggie Bryant of Macon, GA; a nephew, George M. Davis, Jr. of Midlothian, VA; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Davis of Greenville. Her niece, Lea Ricker, would like to thank the staff of the Carriage House of Taylors for the wonderful care they gave her aunt for the past two years and for the care from Abundant Life Hospice for the last four months. Graveside services will be held at 2:30pm Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Riverside Cemetery in Macon, GA. Visitation will be held from 1:00pm until 2:15pm at Hart's on Cherry Street and then go in procession for graveside services. The family will receive friends following the service at 1760 Rivoli Lane, residence of Patti Chapman.
