Marguerite T. Pound, age 103, passed away peacefully on Sunday. March 22, 2026. Born October 5, 1922, in Charleston, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late John Arthur Tuten and Ethel Kroeg Tuten.
She attended the College of Charleston and later married Dr. William Emmett Pound. Most of her married life was spent in Macon, Georgia, where her husband practiced medicine while she lovingly raised their family and was the steady foundation of their home.
Marguerite was an avid bridge player who played with the same group for nearly 60 years and was a devoted member of Mulberry United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully on various committees for decades.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Arthur Tuten, and her sister, Charlotte Tuten Henderson Butler.
She is survived by her children: William E. Pound Jr. (Cindy) of Jasper, Georgia; Betty Pound Ruff (Billy) of Bogart, Georgia; and Joan Pound Weaver (Charlie) of Bluffton, South Carolina. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Tiffanie McHale (Brendan) of Atlanta, Georgia, Chloe Ruff-Miller (Ross) of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Carley Ruff-Feder (Mike) of Washington D.C., Will Ruff (Emily) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Sandra Childres of Morganton, North Carolina; eleven great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Marguerite will be remembered for her strength, steady nature, and the quiet consistency with which she lived her life.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, in the sanctuary at Mulberry United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends following the service. A private burial will be held with the family.
