Majorie Mercer

Marjorie Mercer, 83 of Gray passed away at her home on September 24, 2018 following an extended illness. Margie was born on August 24, 1935 to the late Eula and Cleveland Cox. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Nanny and Friend; a beautiful Matriarch with profound faith and wisdom. Margie’s enduring strength has been an inspiration to all who knew her. Her legacy will live on for generations.

Left to cherish her memories are her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, Leslie, daughter Charlotte (Mike) Lewis, son Glenn Mercer, brother Roy (Hazel) Cox. Seven grandchildren: Rick (Carrie) Mercer, Kim (Jamie) Hanks, Anthony Self, Eric (Amber) Lewis, Justin (Patty) Mercer, Cherie’ (Lane) Carr, Chris (Haley) Mercer. Fifteen great grandchildren: Daisy, Collin, Chasity, Evan, Roman, Carter, Isabella, Peyton, Dillan, Landon, Ethan, Alyssa, Jace, Benton and Benjamin. And a special daughter-in-law Donna Mercer, sister-in-law Frances Cerreto, niece Glenda Winborn, cousin Betty Wood and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Margie is preceded in death by her parents, great grandson Collin Mercer, sister Lorene Cobb, brothers James Cox and Junior Cox.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel. Interment will be held at Elam Memorial Gardens.
