Madalyn McAdams Monroe, 91, of Macon, died peacefully at Zebulon Park Health and Rehabilitation on the morning of Monday, April 23, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Hart's at the Cupola. Burial will be at 4:00 PM at Memory Hill Cemetery in Milledgeville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Milledgeville First United Methodist Church, 366 Log Cabin Road NE, Milledgeville, Georgia 31061. Mrs. Monroe was born June 8, 1926 in Big Spring, Kentucky. As a wife and mother of over twenty years, she earned her master's degree in education, at which time she returned to teaching in the Baldwin County public schools. While residing in Milledgeville, she was an active member of the Milledgeville First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Monroe loved baroque and classical music. She had an outstanding operatic voice and was frequently asked to sing publicly. She was very creative and made beautiful clothing and sweaters. She later moved to Zebulon Park Health and Rehabilitation Center in Macon, Georgia. Mrs. Monroe was predeceased by her husband, Wayne A. Monroe, Jr. and her brother, Emil McAdams. Mrs. Monroe is survived by her three children, Marthalyn Fortson (David) of Macon, Meredythe Sisco (David) of Charleston, South Carolina, and Alex Monroe of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; five grandchildren, John, Laura, Madalyn, Lydia, and Abigail; and one great-grandchild, Mason David.
