Forsyth-Luther "Luke" Lavender, 86, went home to be with the Lord on August 11, 2009 after an extended illness. He had been in the V.A. Hospital in Dublin, GA for several years but previously resided in Monroe County, GA. Graveside services will be held 2:00PM on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Garry Willis officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 277 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Suite 201, Macon, GA 31201. Mr. Lavender was of the Baptist faith and a retired Master Electrician who had served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He will be remembered for his quick wit and funny stories. Mr. Lavender was the son of the late Margaret Stevens Lavender and Luther J. Lavender. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara M. Lavender, and his brothers Eugene and Leonard Lavender, Sr. Survivors include his sister, Clara Moxley (Tom), his sister-in-law, Charlotte Lavender, and several nieces and nephews.
