Lurline Rowell passed away peacefully on Saturday morning in her residence at Bolingreen Nursing Home. A service is to be held at Pinegate Retirement Community on Wednesday morning at 10:30. Born in Covington County, Alabama, she lived most of her life in Alabama. She married Edmon Lewin Rowell, of Covington County and they had four children: Edmon L. Rowell, Jr., Myrna Rowell Jenness, Paul Alonzo, and Philip Andrew. Mrs. Rowell lived most of her life sharing her passion for learning with others. She began the church library and the graded choir program for children at Second Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, (now Eastmont), where she also served as a teacher in the ESL program. While at Second Baptist, she served as a minister of music and church pianist, and performed regularly as a vocalist. She was an employee for the state of Alabama for many years and volunteered for the Salvation Army. A student even into her later years, she attended Auburn University in her 70's. Survivors: Daughter - Myrna Jenness, Daughter-in-law - Ruth Rowell; Grandchildren: Pamela Jenness, Robert Jenness (Pam), Carrie Jenness Wishom (Shawn), Christopher Jenness (Sara), Beth Rowell McGinnis (Scott), Rebecca Rowell Cooke (David), and Edmon L.
