Lucy Hinson Thigpen

On, November 10, 2021,  Mrs. Lucy Thigpen had her final prayer answered, at the age of 96, as she peacefully slipped from this world into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Thigpen was born in Dodge County, Georgia to Rosa Skipper and William Riley Hinson.  She was the youngest of seven children.  On March 12,1943 she married her husband Leon “Buddy” Thigpen of Dublin, Georgia.  After getting married they moved to Macon, where she and her husband raised their two sons, Jim and Jerry.  Over the years Mrs. Thigpen worked at the Naval Ordnance Plant, ITT, and in the men's department, at Sears, in the Macon Mall. Her job at Sears led to her love of fashion and all things pretty.  Her last job she enjoyed until her mid eighties was working in the dining area at McDonalds on Tom Hill Sr. Blvd.

Mrs. Thigpen was a member of  Mikado Baptist Church for many years, until they relocated to Houston Road. Then, she became a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Harris - Somerville Sunday School class. She enjoyed going to church with her family until her health began to decline several years ago.  Since then she has enjoyed frequent visits from the Deacons, Women’s Ministry, and Pastors that would come see her or call her at home.

Mrs. Thigpen was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy, her two sons Jim and Jerry, and all six of her siblings, Lida, Doc, Grace, Bud, Joe, and Tom, and also, her four legged companion, Winston.

She is survived by her Granddaughter, Shelly Thigpen Rowell (Pate), Great-Grandson, Chase Rowell, and Daughter- in- Law, Lynda Thigpen.

A Memorial Service will be held at Hart’s at the Cupola on Peake Road on Monday, November 15, 2021  at 2:00 p.m. The Family will receive guests following the memorial service. Burial will be private at Macon Memorial Park.
