Lucille Pinkston

Lucille Park Finney Pinkston, devoted wife, dedicated and loving mother, and former educator passed away on December 10, 2014 in Macon, Georgia. A celebration of Lucille's life will be held at Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 11 AM, led by Dr. Mark Hudgins. Burial will be private at Highview Cemetery in Gray, Georgia. Lucille, a resident of Carlyle Place, enjoyed cooking for her family, hotly contested bridge games, baking and sharing her famous homemade bread with friends, and gardening. She was married for 52 years to Frank Chapman Pinkston, Sr., former member of the Georgia House of Representatives and later Chairman of the Georgia Department of Transportation and was a valued partner in his political career. He preceded her in death in March 2000. Born in Haddock, Georgia in 1925, Lucille was the daughter of the late Minnie Brown Henderson Finney and Calder Willingham Finney. She graduated from Georgia State College for Women (GSCW) with a B.S. in Education. Lucille taught elementary school for many years. She loved teaching and mentoring young children. She completed her teaching career at Stratford Academy. Lucille was strong in her faith and active in her church, Ingleside Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School, was active in IngleLights, and was a member of the Mary Martha Sunday School Class. Lucille is survived by her sons, Frank Chapman Pinkston, Jr. (Jil) and Calder Finney Pinkston, grandson Alexander Webb Pinkston, sister Florence Finney Easterlin of Montezuma, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews. The family especially wishes to thank Dr. Mark Hudgins, her Ingleside Baptist family, her Carlyle friends and nurses, and the outstanding caregivers at Pine Pointe Hospice for their loving care of Lucille and their support of our family.
