Lucille Pendergrass Gordon

November 4, 1929 — June 13, 2010

Gray, GA- Lucille Pendergrass Gordon, 80, of Jones County passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary, Cherry Street. Burial will follow in the Gordon Family Cemetery on Highway 18 West in Jones County. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the funeral home and may be contacted at the residence of Stewart and Susan Gordon, 1323 Highway 18 West, Gray, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Cancer Warriors Support Organization, P. O. Box 509, Orchard Hill, Georgia 30266.

Mrs. Gordon, daughter of the late Jacob Monroe and Gladys Hyde Pendergrass, was born November 4, 1929 in Fannin County, Georgia and was a graduate of Miller High School. She was married on July 1, 1950 to Sid Leslie Gordon. Mrs. Gordon was retired from the Credit Department at Belk Matthews after more than thirty years of service and following retirement, she managed Baconsfield Florist for many years. She was a member of Sardis Congregational Methodist Church. For many years, she was involved with the Pilot Club of Jones County, The Business and Professional Women, and The American Cancer Society. Mrs. Gordon enjoyed cooking for her family, reading, beach trips and visiting her family's home place in Blue Ridge, Georgia. She loved her family unconditionally and was fiercely independent. Her grandsons were the light of their Grandma's life and she spent many happy times with them. Lucille was a nurturer and was always proving care and love to someone.

Mrs. Gordon is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stewart L. Gordon, Sr. and Susan S. Gordon of Jones County; grandsons, S. Leslie Gordon, Jr., Sid Robert "Bob" (Brandy) Gordon and Nelson S. (Melissa) Gordon, all of Jones County; great-grandchild, Sidney J. Gordon; sisters, Wanda (Bill) McLendon and Delores Beason; sister-in-law, Carol Harrison. Other loved ones include Leigh Ann Brown, Linsey Brown and Collin Brown and numerous nieces and nephews.
