Lucia Domingos Chapman

Lucia Domingos Chapman passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014. A Memorial Service will be held at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola, on Peake Road, Thursday, October 16th at 11:00 AM. The family will greet friends and family immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to your local Alzheimer's Association or to Wesleyan College (Macon, Ga). Mrs. Chapman was born on April 4, 1926 to Alonzo Monk and Lucia Chappell Domingos in Macon, GA. She was raised in Macon and graduated from Miller High School in 1944. Mrs. Chapman then graduated from Wesleyan College in 1948 with a degree in Biology Science. She was a 4th Generation of "Lucia"s to graduate from Wesleyan College. She married Jim Chapman, of Macon, in 1948. During his active duty serving in the U.S. Air Force, they lived in numerous cities, including Wiesbaden, Germany. Her family settled in Mobile, Alabama for 46 years. Mrs. Chapman was a loving wife and dedicated mother who raised four children. She was an active member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church (in Mobile, AL), volunteered with The Meals on Wheels Program and tutored reading in the local elementary school. Mrs. Chapman was an avid reader and enjoyed her sports - both participating in and as a spectator; especially her "Bama" (University of Alabama) sports events. She moved back to Macon in 2011 and has resided at The Cottages on Wesleyan and Flint River Memory Care in Macon, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Chapman, and her sister, Pauline Domingos Lester. Surviving Family Members include her children, Dr. James Chapman, Jr., and Lucia Chapman Carr (David) of Macon, GA, Carl Chapman of Mobile, Alabama and Betty Chapman Freeman of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and grandchild, Lucia Tessandra "Tess" Carr of Macon.
