Lowell W. Belk

Lowell W. Belk, 88, passed away on October 30, 2025. The family will greet friends from 5PM to 7PM on Monday, November 3rd at Hart’s at the Cupola. Funeral services will be held at Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 156 Philadelphia Drive, McDonough, Ga. November 4th at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Methodist Church Cemetery in McDonough, Georgia.

He graduated from the University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia, in 1961, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He completed numerous post-graduate studies and earned the National Association of Credit management’s professional designation of Certified Credit Executive (CCE) in 1986. He served NACM in various capacities locally and nationally and was the National Chairman in 1991-1992.

Following his graduation from UGA, Mr. Belk began his career in textiles with The Bibb Company in Macon, Georgia, serving as Corporate Vice President of Administration, Secretary and Director of Credit. He retired in January 2006 as Corporate Vice President-Credit of Dan River Inc., Danville, Virginia. Mr. Belk was a member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, Macon, Georgia, and held various offices, including Chairman of the Administrative Board.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Nancy Rodgers Belk; son, Christopher Davis Belk of Whitesboro, Texas; sisters, Barbara Cook of McDonough, Georgia, and Sybil Langley of Acworth, Georgia; brother, Ben Belk, of Canton, Georgia; grandson, Justin Belk; granddaughters, Marli and Kyndall Belk; great grandsons, Fischer Jones and Rory Belk.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis Belk and Lucille Heck Belk, son, Lowell Scott Belk; and brother, Tommy Belk.
